Jukebox in to Pulse sink?

There's a few threads around this but I've not yet found a definitive answer.

I'd like to setup my raspberry pi to be my subsonic server but to have it play its audio out in to a pulse rtp sync over wireless, so that the stream is played out via an old laptop connected to my stereo. Has anyone successfully done this and can you give me pointers as to how to get it setup (I've already had to do the java hack on the laptop (which is currently running as the subsonic server) so that it would output to the external usb soundcard rather than the onboard speakers but in doing so notice that the signal doesn't appear in the pulse volume control. Is it possible to setup the Jukebox to output to Pulse rather than directly to the hardware?
