Re: Improved search

OK! So I see Madsonic DOES not use tags to search. Is that correct? I did a search and found some documentation about the folder hierarchy that is necessary. Unfortunately, because that documentation was so well "hidden" I have been organizing my library of about 1/2 million files in a different way...

Re: Improved search

I get exactly the same results as previously. When I search for the artist "Man Parrish", I get "Theo Parrish" but no Man Parrish matches under Artists, even though the tags are all correct and the folder name starts with Man Parrish. I do get matches under the secondary list of albums but interesti...

Version 7: latest snapshot

No problems here except for the very poor search which is persistent from version 6. I search for the artist "Man Parrish" and get no matches under artists but in the secondary list of albums, it shows up. Having a large collection with such a poor search engine is very problematic. I even tried som...

7 vs 6

snapshot of version 7 server working well for me on Win 10.

However, I don't see any differences from version 6 except for the new Madsonic avatar :D

Thanks.

Re: Madsonic Newsletter 03/2019

I have used Madsonic for almost two years, and although Madsonic is not perfect (search function), it's the best there is for scanning speed, usability, sharing, cross platform app support.

I have tried Subsonic, Plex, and others.

Thanks.

Improved search

For me, improving the search function is critical.

You can find my old thread in the forum about searching for "Man Parrish" and coming up with very poor results despite good tags.

Please figure out something with the search.

Thanks.

Re: Is madsonic alive ?

The premium URL for my server went down yesterday.

I think it's something on the Madsonic backend.

Could this be the death knell for the whole thing?

Madsonic premium URL is not working

I cannot connect to my madsonic domain today (***.madsonic.org). I can connect to Madsonic over my network using the IP address. Could this be the end of Madsonic? Hi thanks for the answer. I took your advice and upgraded to the latest version that you referenced. When I search for "Man Parrish" there are no results under Artists or under Albums, until I click the more button under Albums and then there are 3 matches, although the match is with the Artist and ...

Re: Current search function is badly flawed

Unfortunately, because search is such a critical function, I may have leave the Madsonic fold unless someone can help me figure out why search is not working for me. All my files are impeccably tagged, and the folders are also descriptive FWIW. Yet Madsonic search cannot apparently find files. I'm s...

Current search function is badly flawed

See my other thread:

http://forum.madsonic.org/viewtopic.php ... 8009#p8009

Can anyone/someone help me figure out the search function for this software?

Is it as bad as it seems or is it operator error?

Re: Search failure

Are there any user settings that can make the search more accurate?

Are there any search methods that the user can employ to make searches more accurate?

I'm persevering here because SEARCH is arguably one of the most important features, especially for a large collection of music.

Re: Search failure

I enabled the tagging feature.

It took several hours to rescan my 400k+ file library.

However, even with this, Man Parrish appears after several other entries in the list and after I have clicked "More."

Strange.
