Madsonic Server 5.x Synology-DSM 5.x NAS Plugin
Re: Madsonic Server 5.0 Synology-NAS Plugin
Just wanted to stop in and say that this package installs wonderfully. Perl, JAvaSE Embedded 8, and Serviio all went without any hitches.
I am not sure why Serviio is needed, but if it is needed can I "stop" it? Or what is it?
Also now I have a new question. When I was running the Windows version of this, The Madsonic Control Panel, had a Context area where I could change the path, and even the Port Number if I wanted to.
Where are these settings in Madsonic now?
EDIT: there's also something funny with adding new users; I eventually got it to work, but it was not like I expected it to work.

Serviio is only needed for the ffmpeg version. With newer versions of the Madsonic plugin, there will be no more dependency on this package (ffmpeg).
I will rework the setup, that you can easily change the port.

Re: Madsonic Server 5.x Synology-NAS Plugin
I fixed wma transcoding in my Madsonic install by creating by shortcut, in the transcode dir, to the Synology installed ffmpeg (/usr/syno/bin/ffmpeg)
No need to install Serviio
also in the trancode settings I modified the cmd to this (adding -vn):
ffmpeg -i %s -ab %bk -v 0 -vn -f mp3 -
I do have a problem with some tag reading though, doesn't pick up the artist tag when the folder has multiple files with different artists, which hopefully will be fixed in 5.1
Works like a charm, so many thanks for doing this.

Re: Madsonic Server 5.x Synology-NAS Plugin
Installed the 5.1 spk without any hitches.
The NEW icon is displayed at the top right, suggesting 5.1.5150 is released. For us synology users, is it safe to upgrade by just replacing the WAR and JAR files?
EDIT its looking like the madsonic.war, madsonic-booter.jar, and madsonic.sh files

Re: Madsonic Server 5.x Synology-NAS Plugin
Hi.
I used the old Version Madsonic5.0-B3860-012.spk on my Synology 1813+ with installed but stopped serviio package and Java 7 in the past.
Everything worked.
I had also problems to activate transcoding, but I can't remember how I fixed this.
Now I tested the newest version "Madsonic5.1-B5060-016.spk" (deinstalled Madsonic before), but now with Java 8 an deinstalled serviio and installed again.
After installation I updated to 5.1.5150 by copying madsonic.war and madsonic-booter.jar from file "20140927_madsonic-5.1.5150-standalone.zip".
After log in and scanning my media-Files I only can play music (mp3).
Playing a movie leads to "Error loading media: File could not be played!".
In help it shows "WARNING no transcoder found!":

I tested with copying the ffmpeg binary from serviio directory and replaced the old one in /volume1/@appstore/Madsonic/transcode.
I changed permission to 775 and the owner to "madsonic" (instead of root after copying).
Transcoding does not work!

Is this done with current version (5.1.5150) for Synology (after copying madsonic.war and madsonic-booter.jar)?
Or is serviio package still be necessary?
How can I get transcoding back to life?
Can we expect a current package for Synology or is copying madsonic.war and madsonic-booter.jar over version 5.1-B5060-016 enough?
Thankz for this fantastic tool!
Siutsch.
Update:
If I copy the ffmpeg from the Synology (from /use/syno/bin), the help page shows "ffmpeg version 2.0.2 (30.05.2014)".
But I still can not play videos.

Re: Madsonic Server 5.x Synology-NAS Plugin
i can't answer your question as I never played anything but music with mine, but I can tell you I did try playing a short video with mine recently and all it displayed was a black window.
I did see a copy of ffmpeg in the latest install (and i did not install serviio this time around). That all being said I do not know what the fix is for this.

Re: Madsonic Server 5.x Synology-NAS Plugin
@el-gato are you saying you manually replaced madsonic.war, madsonic-booter.jar, and madsonic.sh to 5150 and it won't restart? I was just planning on doing that, but may hold off if you're showing problems
Re: Madsonic Server 5.x Synology-NAS Plugin
In my opinion you can not change the file "madsonic.sh", because the paths are different.
It won't start after that.
Replacing madsonic.war and madsonic-booter.jar is OK.
(But I can't transcode and hoping on help from Madevil.)

Re: Madsonic Server 5.x Synology-NAS Plugin
Hi,
Does someone knows how to use a SSL connection to Madsonic? All my Synology apps use it with the only exception being Madsonic, witch I can't change the config...
Thanks in advance,
Marc

Re: Madsonic Server 5.x Synology-NAS Plugin
Yes, with no changes. But i've only tested with flac audio files. I've installed the following apps. And i wonder myself that Serviio is not installed and it works anyway :0.

Re: Madsonic Server 5.x Synology-NAS Plugin
Ok, now i've a the problem @ my new DS415+. Trancode on Madsonic doesn't work.
The reason for that is certainly that the surviio package doesn't exists for my 415+.
Now my question:
-Is it possible to use the ffmpeg package which is allready installed by "Audio Station" ?
This is my "find" output on my DS413:
And if anyone has any ideas for my other problem
