0.5.0:

browser by folder or artist
browse and play all your music/videos
browse starred artists, albums, songs
play at full quality (original files) or transcode to the bitrate of your choice in settings (full quality currently require DVDPlayer)
search for artist, album and songs
view hot, tip, newest, top rated, most played,recently played and random albums
generate random playlists by range of years and/or genre
play playlists from madsonic server

don't forget to set up your server info in the plugin settings.
by default it points at the demo server (http://demo.subsonic.org) so you can try it out of the box.

you might get better results if you force using DVDPlayer.
if you don't already have a playercorefactory.xml in your userdata directory then make a file and add the following in it.

        <rule name="madsonic" filename=".*/rest/(stream|download).view.*" player="dvdplayer"/>
    </rules>
</playercorefactory>

if you already have one, just insert the line:

directly after the <rules> tag.

Only minus so far is that when using music option and newest album section there is also all new video files...

I have a beginner question about this plug-in, will it work on a 64 bit WIndows 7 install. I have some google TV's setup around the house and accessing the videos can be done but it is difficult to locate what I'm looking for.

Any help or recommendations on how to set this up and get it working would be extremely helpful.

Right now I have a DLNA renderer setup on the Google TV's and they recognize the Madsonic DLNA server but Madsonic deiivery gives me one long list of over 75,000 files...very difficult.

I can also see Windows Media player but that has drawbacks that make it a very poor option.

Realy strange thing has hapened. I dont see any arist names in xbmc anymore. I only see album/vinyl name and thats it. if I go to that folder then I only see track name. when I start the song then I can see arist/dj name. this is really annoying because I have about 420gb music in my computer. PS I use Index folder to play my track, because in the years I have come up whit my own solution to sort my music.

I just got same problem when I installed another computer with XBMC and Madsonic.

Haven't changed anything in the server end.

brilliant and works well, can I ask for a few tweaks using it for video by the way? when in any of the icon or fanart views what file is it looking for for the images or does it even look for images?

my folder structure is

Show
S01
Showname - Sxxexx - Episode Title

and every folder and subfolder has

banner.jpg
fanart.jpg
folder.jpg
poster.jpg

but no images show up?

and also can we have an option to show the history section of madsonic please, so then we can see each individual episode thats been added new

I was going to use Raspbmc and the plex addon but think this is a much better way as its a lot lighter in size and function

Problem still exists. its realy annoying. any way to fix this?`I installed also subsonic xbmc plugin and have the same problem.

Has anyone tried installing it on the iOS version? I get a 'script failed' error which I didn't get when trying it with XBMC on Android.
This error does come when I try other subsonic plugins too...I haven't tried other random plugins to see if they get that too.

Can you fix this bug plz, this is really annoying for now cant see now artist name. only album/ep name and thats all and also for the tracknames, the same thing. how can I fix this bug???

I dont get it, I first sayed about this bug in november. now its february and still developer havent answered to this question but STILL he is active in the forum!

I hope you will fix this the most annoyng bug!!

With Gotham I'm having problems with playback. I can play only one song. When the next song cames playback stops...

Plus last.fm scrobbling isn't working.
