Hey guys !
I have a strange bug when I want to play any video.

It says in place of the video :

Video not found or access denied : /stream?id=917&maxbitrate=1000&timeOffset=0&player=13

In the logs, it says : I run the latest madsonic on ubuntu 12.04.2.lts.
I tried to chmod 777 the Video folder. No change.
I checked the transcoding, and put the default one.
I tried to update ffmpeg, but it was already the latest one.
I deleted my player to create a new one, no change.

I'm kind of stuck on this problem. Any ideas ?

Do all your videos have the [ and ] characters in them? Try changing to ( and ) instead, maybe on a couple files to start for testing...

Not all of them have [], I also thought of that, but it is not the cause. Also, with previous versions of madsonic, I managed to play even files with [].

I installed the last build (3360), and the latest transcode files. Video still doesn't want to play !

As Madevil found by PM, this was an issue with ffmpeg. He changed ffmpeg to Audioffmpeg, and now it works !
I don't understand why ffmpeg is not working correctly, but now I can play videos again. Will try the ffmpeg from the next build.

Ffmpeg is a funny sort of creature that tends to have a few quircks that make it a bit difficult to predict what's going to happen with it from build to build.

I've found a couple of consistent issues that appear from time to time that vary depending on which version of ffmpeg that is being used. The first is with video playback. Some versions of ffmpeg have trouble with avi files. I've also seen versions that just can't handle video at all in Subsonic/Madsonic. Second, some versions of ffmpeg don't transcode some audio formats very well. particularly when dealing with flac and ogg formats.

Because of the inconsistent performance of ffmpeg builds I have kept two versions of ffmpeg that I found over the years that work well in each case. The one that I found that handles the videos pretty well I renamed Videoffmpeg. The one that does the audio transcoding and handles flac and ogg formats well I renamed Audioffmpeg.

This way I can actually use 3 different transcoding strings that are used to work best with a given format. Video, Audio and the current release of ffmpeg can then be tested whenever I upgrade a version of SS/MS. It takes a bit of testing to get the best results, but I usually get everything working by using one of the 3 versions.

I'm having the same error, running the newest beta of Madsonic. Videos play in Android flawlessly, but not in any browser (tried IE, FF, and Chrome).

I will confess to not fully understanding the posted solution, and also am not sure if it is still applicable. ANY assistance is greatly appreciated. Thank you.

Switching back to default flash settings fixed the issue, but, switching back to HTML5 presents the same issue as before.

So, it's working, but, I would really prefer HTML5 functionality. Any ideas?

What version of Madsonic are you running? I just upgraded to 3500 (from 3480) and now there is an option under Settings/Cleanup Tools that lets you "reset" the video transcoder to WEBM (for HTML5) or back to FLV (for Flash).

Am upgrading to the new 3510 beta now to see if there is any difference.

for clarification

for HTML5 Playback you need set the video player



and the right transcoding for it (reset it within the Cleanup/Tools)



only both is set you will can transcode to HTML5 player
