Being able to play music or a film without downloading it

Is it possible to have the madsonic app not have to download a song or film before playing it? On Netflix, you don't have to download a movie before watching it. Pandora, you don't download the song before it plays. I hope that technology in use by Pandora and Netflix could be integrated into the Madsonic app somehow.
