Madsonic 5.1 Upload progress bar or status access for users

HI again,
I have read in a post from 10/13 that Upload progress bar was on to do list for 5.1 release. Is there any news on that. Users are sending files "blindly" for now and getting a bit frustrated not seeing what's happening. Is there a bit of a code that can be injected into upload.jsp or would the class file need to be recompiled? If that is not feasible is there an option to let users see the status option if they are not administrators?
If I understand correctly Madsonic uses jquery for Ajax operations. I found a few sample codes though I would not venture with my poor knowledge of java to implement them but I am sure there is a wizard in community who could do it
