Improved search

Unread post by zzzonedotnet »

For me, improving the search function is critical.

You can find my old thread in the forum about searching for "Man Parrish" and coming up with very poor results despite good tags.

Please figure out something with the search.

Thanks.

Please give us a working link to look at.

So, nothing has changed for you from 6.x to 7.x using the search?
Please give us more detailed information, so I maybe can reproduce.

Data Structure:
Name: "Music" ; Path: /data/Music/<Artist>/<Albumname> (<Year>)/<Artist> - <No.> - <Title>.flac
Name: "Sampler" ; Path: /data/Sampler/<Samplername> (<Year>)/<Artist> - <No.> - <Title>.flac

If I search an Artist who is in both Folders the Results are as followed:
Artist: Artist Name
Album: All Albums from this Artist
Songs: All Albums from this Artist including the Songs from the Sampler path

Improvement for me:
"Album" also shows the Sampler that hast Tracks from this Artist.

Greetings Kae

I get exactly the same results as previously.

When I search for the artist "Man Parrish", I get "Theo Parrish" but no Man Parrish matches under Artists, even though the tags are all correct and the folder name starts with Man Parrish.

I do get matches under the secondary list of albums but interesting to note, that none of his albums contain his name in the album name.

I'm guessing that Madsonic doesn't use regular tags to search.

OK!

So I see Madsonic DOES not use tags to search. Is that correct?

I did a search and found some documentation about the folder hierarchy that is necessary.

Unfortunately, because that documentation was so well "hidden" I have been organizing my library of about 1/2 million files in a different way.

OMG.

It will take literally years to rearrange them.

Any way that Madsonic can start searching tags? Thanks.

On a side note, I've noticed the updates have gone quiet again, since May. The underpinnings are improved no doubt but nothing else?

Is it possible to change / adapt the search so that it can also cope with the following folder name.
Alice Cooper - [USA]
