New Install of madsonic-6.2 on Ubuntu 20.04 no Web Interface

Unread post by coacharnold »

Hello

I've jut installalled 20190425_madsonic-6.2 on my Ubuntu 20.04 box. I'm running it alongside subsonic 6.1.6 , both at different ports subsonic at 4040 and Madsonic at 4045

Subsonic is working just fine

madsonic seems to be working, i can see it locally on my cellphone remote. But I cannot get to the web interface to set it up. I don't even get a 503 error. Nothing, as if the web-server wasn't up and running. Ive tried stopping subsonic to see if maybe jetty was having issues with both,. i don't get anything

here's the last few lines from /var/madsonic_sh.log and var/madsonic.log

Edit: (06/16/2020)
I downgraded from Ubuntu 20.04 to Ubuntu 18.04 and most of my problems with Madsonic disappeared. I suggest you do the same.

Preface:
I'm running Madsonic 5.0 so this may or may not be of use.

I just upgraded my server software from Ubuntu 16.04 with kernel 3.14.0-44 to Ubuntu 20.04 with the latest kernel and openjdk-8.
When I restored my backup of my Madsonic software two things didn't work properly:

1. When I made changes to the "/etc/default/madsonic" file and entered sudo service madsonic restart to make the changes take effect, the service still made the web page available on the original port number instead of the one I entered into the configuration file.

The solution for this was a reboot of the server hardware.

2. Whenever I rebooted the server hardware the Madsonic service would start, then fail. I'd have to type sudo service madsonic start to manually get it to run. From then on it would run stable until the next reboot.

To solve this I made a script that would automatically execute the sudo service madsonic start command after the boot process.
