Directly play FLAC or transcode to OGG

Hello,
I'm coming from subsonic and i would like to know if it's possible to play directly in the web interface a stream from FLAC files to OGG ? (clearly it's not possible with subsonic, and this is a good reason for me to migrate) I have try in the settings to select in player audio -> OGG but the audio doesn't come.
To resume (cause i'am not speaking really weel english), i would like to :
FLAC FILES ON SERVER -> TRANSCODE or NOT -> MADSONIC HTML WEB INTERFACE plays directly OGG / FLAC
Is-it forced to use MP3 ? Which is proprietary and a little old ?
