Home screen question (Random Items, etc.)

Unread post by jsgates » 21 Dec 2014, 02:22

My question is in regards to the home screen in Madsonic. I have recently done a clean installation of the the latest Madsonic 5.2 beta. I added my music folder as a source as usual, but this time I added my Movies folder & TV Shows Folders as well. In Madonsonic, I can show "All Folders" in the left pane, or the one of each of these folders individually. However, when I choose to view only let's say the the "Movies" folder, the Home screen in Madsonic still shows random items for Music, etc. Is it possible to have the Home screen that displays Recently Added, Random Items, etc. Only display content related to the folder you are viewing? Obviously with "All Folders" selected, you would see items from all of you added folders on the home screen. Maybe this can be done now but I just don't know how to set it up correctly. Any info is appreciated.

mmmh
the only possibility to change this behavior is here :
settings -> general
randomimg.PNG

As you will see there is all about music stuff, not movie

This would be a to do topic for MadEvil in the coming verson(s)

Yes. I think it would be a good addition since video support has gotten better & better with newer builds. I still primarily use Madsonic for music, but the ability to have everything is one place is really cool. I love where Madsonic is headed. Would also be nice to be able specify the displayed artwork dimensions per folder. That way you can have movie posters, etc. for your movies, but still standard coverart size for Music folder.

+1 for me.

XBMC/Kodi is great if your on your local lan, its nice to have to option to stream to the phone or other people in their home can use it with XBMC with the madsonic/ plugin to connect to your server.

I just wish the phone client would support different bit rates...

EDIT:
Just installed the latest subsonic 5.1beta1 and this feature is in there, so i would think it would make its way down the fork to madsonic.

Because Madsonic doesn't handle subtitles very well.

I have Kodi (XBMC) on my laptop and server to configured to share madsonic data folder via FTP.
Connect XBMC to FTP share and voila subtitles work when traveling.

ja right, but the main use for *sonic is music ... since flash or html5 player crap is no alternative to vlc or xbmc ....

*sonic == music all time and all places , intranet, internet, extranet no matter what
xbmc == local video matador, with ability to play music

mmh subtitles while traveling ... not really a good idea here in germany : ) i guess even with my 2 MBit upload via cable i am not able to handle a 28 GB untouched mkv streaming : P , not to mention that we only have 500 MB > max 5 GB +/- datavolume for mobile internet. ^^

Fiber 100/10 MBit and no data restriction for server.
4G (LTE) 50MBit for traver also no restriction for data.

MKV over network with FTP works like a dream (usually)

Welcome to Finland ^^

Here in Finland is high pressure to create same kind of "services"

Internet is only thing that is pretty much only "cheap" thing here.

35€ per moth is pretty good for fiber. 4G is 30€.
