Re: Desperate - Need Help

Wish I could help you there, but I've been a Microsoft guy since MS-DOS 1.0 - I've looked at Linux a few times, but my network is so Windows server dominant that I just haven't gotten motivated to learn Linux well enough to give you any advice. My son has mastered Linux and Windows as if he was born...

Re: Desperate - Need Help

503 errors are usually the result of an improper shutdown/reboot of your host machine that corrupts the database.

You can search the Subsonic forums for "503 error" to read about the repair suggestions.

Re: How To Upload Music?

Yeah, a lot of the settings just require some trial and error to figure out. The product and menus have developed so fast that I haven't been able to keep up with all the new features and how they work. I'll be putting some new servers in over the next couple weeks and then I hope to get back to set...

Re: How To Upload Music?

It's the second last icon on the right at the top on my site, but I think that the user has to have "User is allowed to upload files" checked in "Settings/Users."

Re: Just registered.. cannot login

You have to clean out any directories created by the first install. If you're on Windows, delete C:\Subsonic.

Re: Just registered.. cannot login

Then you must have a typo in U/P.

The easiest thing to do is to just re-install and start over with defaults.

Re: How to customize build 3760?

I apologize if anything in my post left you with the impression that I was implying that what you were doing was wrong or improper. This is certainly Open Source and everyone has the right to modify any portion of the program in similar fashion to what you've been doing. I too, have several servers ...

Re: How to customize build 3760?

Hi guys, There is only one developer and this forum has grown considerably. I know everyone's particular issues are important to them, but it's understandable if a given issue doesn't get noticed by the dev as fast as everyone would like. Marty has done a phenomenal job of giving us features that ma...

Re: disable ogg transcoding & default madsonic GUI / player

I spent some time tinkering with trying to get ogg to play in the default desktop player and I can't get it to work. The weird thing is that the ogg output plays fine on the Android app, but won't play on the the desktop JW Player even though it is listed as supported on their website: http://www.lo...

Re: Having Issues transcoding to ogg vorbis after update to

The issue is that unless you use an external player you have to output a codec that the device you're using can play. If you're looking for the best codec to use for Android mobile, I'd recommend ogg as it is well regarded for it's efficiency and quality. You can adjust -aq x to get the quality you ...

Thanks, but no thanks. The link you list raises the big red malware flag on my Malwarebytes site monitor.

I'm looking for the most recent library posted here in the forums.

Re: Having Issues transcoding to ogg vorbis after update to

Thanks, I'm a bit behind on my updating. I'll check it out when I do the next round. EDIT: I use the WAR on Windows and it doesn't include the transoding files. They used to be posted here in the forums for download, but I can't find them and the Zeranoe site build page is currently down. Anyone rem...

Adjust aq # to set compression setting.

Re: Android Client 5.5

Check Settings/Network You need to use an external URL, not localhost:4040. The easiest way is to use a Subsonic vanity redirect URL Access your server over the Internet using an easy-to-remember address. http://servername.subsonic.org Status: Successfully registered web address. Then your links wil...

Re: Install MadSonic on Windows Server 2012 R2

I haven't ever tried that. It always seemed to me that the effort wasn't worth the benefit. I've seen posts on the Subsonic forum about the topic, but it all seemed like just too much effort to be bothered with. If you do decide to give it a go and can post clear instruction, I'm sure someone else w...

Re: Install MadSonic on Windows Server 2012 R2

Not a big issue. Install latest Java, Tomcat 7, then drop in the Madsonic war file same as you would with Subsonic. Repost if you run into a specific problem, but this is a pretty simple install. For a lot of reasons, including performance, I use the Tomcat/war on all my servers, but the Windows ver...

Re: disable ogg transcoding & default madsonic GUI / player

Thanks for the reply. I'd like to hear if you make any progress. I prefer to use ogg for when I'm mobile as it is clearly more efficient than mp3. So far Madsonic seems to just say in the log that because mp3 is a playable format, it just passes it to the Android player and won't do the mp3>ogg tran...
