i like that idea too, but did you get the idea i was talking about? if i have an mp3 file on my phone, what i would like to be able to do is, either: A.) Go into my android file manager, select that mp3 file, then choose "Share with...", and "Madsonic Android Client" would be one...

Apologies in advance for my poor writing style, grammatic travesties, typos etc. it would be cool if there were a way to create 'meta-genres'... meaning, you could create a meta-genre called +dubstep, and you would tell Madsonic that the metagenre +dubstep INCLUDES the id3tag genres dubstep, darkste...

in the Transcode setting, the default, newly installed settings said, Audioffmpeg, instead of ffmpeg

based on ubuntu install using "sudo dpkg -i 20131130_madsonic-5.0.3800.deb"

i just manually removed the "Audio" from each instance of Audioffmpeg

does anyone else see the value in this? The purpose is this... using most recent .deb build of Madsonic server running on Ubuntu 13.10,aiff files not being transcoded

solved this by removing madsonic.. i hadn't realized the two most recent builds didn't have a .deb and had kind og kludged the installation... i went back two builds and found one with a .deb package, downloaded THAT, and installed it - Voila! Starts at system boot time as a service. Now i just need...

did You ever figure this out? i soved this by looking in the previous builds and realizing the build two before has a .deb package which when "sudo dpkg -i <the build.deb>", it DOES set up the boot-time service... i just haven't figured out how to apply the subsequent build over top of it...
