Re: Playlist Loading Time
That's a good question as well ... In Settings/General you can define the import ans export directories, the defaults are c:\music\Incoming and c:\playlists-export, which leads me to suspect that the actual lists used by the program are probably stored in the database. If I'm right on that, then the...

Re: Playlist Loading Time
I am experiencing slow delays when opening Playlists? Is this normal? If I load a playlist, doing it on the server, not using Network, it takes about 20secs. Meaning ->select the playlist, containing 462 songs, in left frame -> it loads into main window -> Push "play all" -> The first sta...

Re: New install - Video not found or access denied error
If it's any comfort, I think anyone who uses Sub/Mad sonic for video has dealt with this at one time or another. I've encountered it when permissions to the folder weren't set properly, when the version of ffmpeg didn't work right, and when different versions of Sub/Mad sonic just weren't doing thin...

Re: Subsonic Clients w/Madsonic Server 5
The single most vexing issue with the entire Subsonic family is stability and compatibility. I've come to the conclusion, however, that it is only reasonable to expect that the Madsonic server would be compatible with the Madsonic app. It's a constant struggle to keep everything fully functional for...

Re: scan issue
There can be a few problems that can be the cause, but from what you've posted i don't have enough information to be able to pinpoint the problem on your setup. I'm imagine you've posted what OS you're on, but not in this thread. First, it's not clear, but when you refer to local drives I'm assuming...

Re: Is Madsonic still actively developed? And other question
I noticed madsonic hasn't had a new release since July 25th, which was about the last time Madevil posted. I did see in thread of the latest release he said he's going on vacation and hopes to be out of beta by the end of August. Can someone confirm this is still an active project and Madevil will ...

Wifi connect failure
Go figure - never happened to me before in either Subsonic or any version of Madsonic. I have 2 current active sites running on my network on different servers. One I can access on my Android phone with both wifi or 3g. the other site can only be accessed over 3g - wifi gives the following error: &q...

Re: network share
Sharepoint sites are pretty easy for me (now that I've had the "honor" of setting up about 20 of them in the past year or so). The trick is that you have to not only create users on the sharepoint site, but you have to go back in and grant those new users permissions. It's a PITA, but I'v...

Re: network share
That was never true in Subsonic. Mapped drives never worked on Windows. I never tested it in Madsonic, so I'm not sure if that has changed, but I do know for sure that using UNC shares as I've described does work. A typical Windows user may have some difficulty untangling all the permissions issues ...

Re: network share
That's because the service does not have access rights to the share.
You need to set up identical accounts on both machines with the same password, and then define that account for the service to use.

Re: network share
Should be no problem as long as you define the folder as a UNC share that the Madsonic service account has permissions to access. I do this on my network that runs Madsonic in a VM but accesses a music library that sits on a RAID storage array. If you have a problem, it's usually associated with per...

Re: Cooordinate Main Panel with left column
Bump - Just saw this pop up again on the Subsonic forum. http://forum.subsonic.org/forum/viewtopic.php?t=12189&p=57586#p57586 It just doesn't make any rational sense to me that the main panel isn't restricted to just displaying the folder selected in the left column. The way it is now would be t...

Yes, I know all manner of options. It all depends on what your objectives are as to which solution is best for your needs. Budget is also important. Probably one of the best all around solutions would be the new intel barebones box. http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16856102035 But...

Re: Ideas to run madsonic
There are an infinite range of answers here. It all depends on what you want to have available to how many users. If you're serving up 128kbps mp3's that don't need to be transcoded and you only have 5 users and never more than 2 at a time, you can use a Raspberry pi with a NAS drive attached and pr...

http://xw8600.subsonic.org/share/MOuER That cat be skinned! Use Format Factory to convert it to FLV. You can set it up to do batch processing of the videos. If you convert the videos directly to flv then there is no on the fly transcoding needed for subsequent playbacks which will significantly redu...

Yeah, that one's a real peach. It doesn't even play in VLC, WMP, or any of the other players I tried. What video player do you use and what codec is it supposed to be? I can get the audio output, but nothing I've tried can render the video. AVS video editor reports codec VP 70 not installed. It look...

I think Hadoop might be better suited to that task.
